About THE PROJECT
The Queensland Family and Child Commission engaged Saltwater People to visualise a storytelling game, developed by the Garbutt Community Centre’s Tiddas Yarning Circle.
Saltwater People worked with resident artist Ty Waigana to visualise the cultural themes, based on the client brief and the stories shared from the Tidda’s Yarning Circle.

TY WAIGANA
“I am Wandandi Noongar (Aboriginal) and Ait Koedhal (Torres Strait Islander) multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer. My practice includes painting, illustration, sculpture, animation and graphic design.”
Ty is a prolific young artist with aa Bachelor of Arts from Curtin University. Ty has worked with us on projects for Australian National University, Queensland Child and Family Commission and Engineers Without Borders. Ty is also the NAIDOC poster artist for 2020.
Saltwater People have worked with QFCC on several projects across their Families are First and Indigenous Oversight programs.
We are currently supporting their Youth Justice report, which includes strategic illustrations created by Dylan Mooney. This artwork is the result of engagement with families and service providers in the Youth Justice system. This will be published in early 2021.
